1. Backup & Prepare
- A compatible replacement motherboard (ensure it matches your CPU, RAM, and other components)
- Phillips screwdriver
- Anti-static wrist strap (to prevent electrostatic damage)
- Thermal paste (if removing/reinstalling the CPU)
- Plastic prying tool (optional but helpful)
1. Backup & Prepare
- Backup your data if possible, in case you need to reinstall Windows.
- Unplug all cables and remove the battery (for laptops).
- Press and hold the power button for 10 seconds to discharge residual power.
- Desktops: Unscrew and remove the side panel.
- Laptops: Unscrew and remove the bottom cover (check for hidden screws under rubber feet or stickers).
- Unplug the power supply connectors from the motherboard.
- Disconnect storage drives (HDD/SSD), RAM, Wi-Fi card, cooling fan, and CPU (if needed).
